Careers · The Founding Twelve
Twelve seats build the Sherlock studio from the ground up. Sherlock is live in Arizona; Bizie and Doogie follow in 2027 and 2028. Every seat carries founding equity in be., the parent.
Law enforcement officers spend more time on paperwork than on the work they trained for. Clinicians spend more time documenting care than giving it. Skilled tradespeople run our infrastructure on paper forms, phone calls, and tribal knowledge.
be. exists to change that, built on a principle we call Human Presence Intelligence. Technology should disappear into the background so the human can re-emerge in the foreground. The officer still decides. The judge still signs. The clinician still examines. The technician still diagnoses. We remove every obstacle between them and the work.
What you build here will be used in high-stakes, sometimes life-and-death situations. It has to work. If you want to build software that matters, not to an ad network but to the people who keep communities safe, heal patients, and maintain the infrastructure of daily life, this is where you belong.
Where AI automates, Human Presence Intelligence augments. The professional decides. We build the infrastructure that makes that possible.
You’re not joining a feature team. Your equity is in be., the parent, not one studio. Sherlock, Bizie, Doogie, and everything that follows are part of your upside.
No legacy codebase. No inherited architecture. No “how we’ve always done it.” You make the calls that define how this platform works, accountable to users whose work depends on getting it right.
Every warrant filed faster. Every patient who gets eye contact instead of a screen. Every technician who makes the right call the first time. The impact is measurable, immediate, and real.
No one has built this kind of company before. There’s no talent pool of engineers with cross-studio AI experience, no designers who’ve shipped both court-facing and clinical workflows. If you’re waiting for that candidate, you’ll wait forever.
What we hire for is builder’s instinct and learning velocity. Can you take a complex, high-stakes domain you’ve never worked in and figure out how it works, fast? Can you sit across from a detective, a clinician, or an HVAC tech, listen to how they think, and translate that into system architecture? Do you ship things and improve them, or wait until they’re perfect? Domain expertise in any single profession is not the filter. Curiosity, speed, and the ability to build from first principles: that’s the filter.
Open roles
This is a builder cohort, not a payroll chart. Every seat reads the studio’s Founding Spine and signs onto it before the seat is considered filled. As Bizie and Doogie scale toward 2027 and 2028, their founding cohorts follow.
Vision, fundraising, agency and sponsor relationships, product direction. The Studio Director holds product; there is no separate product office.
Design the technical foundation: multi-tenant agency isolation, architecture designed for CJIS from the first line, the capture/analysis separation, the permanent record, and the patterns every future be. studio inherits.
You bring Senior platform architecture. Multi-tenant SaaS with regulated data. Genuine comfort designing systems for problems we haven’t fully scoped yet.
ApplyOwn the be.Think integration for Sherlock: the drafting pipeline, statute matching, the bench of proven warrants, and outcome feedback. Human-curated, walled-garden compliant.
You bring Production experience with Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar. Strong backend foundations. Thoughtful about evals, hallucination mitigation, and where AI helps versus where it gets in the way.
ApplyOwn the officer-facing surfaces: web, tablet, phone. Field-usable at speed: gloves, stylus, motion, targets big enough to hit while moving.
You bring Strong React and mobile experience. Offline-capable PWA architecture. You care about how things feel, not just whether they work.
ApplyThe “work the case, not the software” mandate made visible. High-stress field contexts, the design system, presence-first interaction across every surface, including eyewear.
You bring Complex workflow application design. Design systems. Figma. You know when to simplify and when complexity is the honest answer.
ApplyCJIS Security Policy conformance, GovCloud operations, advanced authentication, audit posture, and the security case that wins agency approvals.
You bring Production experience with GovCloud, FedRAMP, HIPAA, or CJIS environments. You think in threat models, not just deployment pipelines.
ApplyOwn the be.Edge device end to end: electrical design, board bring-up, compute selection, ruggedization.
You bring Shipped rugged or embedded hardware end to end, schematic through production. Comfortable owning a device, not a subsystem.
ApplyFirmware, the on-device be.Think runtime, the connectivity stack (mesh, cellular, and satellite on the horizon), and power management. AI on local hardware, no cloud required, runs through this seat.
You bring Production firmware on constrained devices. Embedded Linux or RTOS, radios, and power budgets. On-device ML a strong plus.
ApplyThermal, enclosure, manufacturability: the physical device the field can trust, built to be made at scale.
You bring Mechanical design for rugged electronics. DFM experience from prototype to production. Thermal analysis in constrained form factors.
ApplyWire Sherlock into connected eyewear: SDK and runtime integration, display and audio pipelines, hands-free capture, presence-safe UI on glass. Across candidate hardware, never one vendor bet.
You bring AR/XR or wearable integration experience. Real-time capture pipelines. You design for glanceability, not immersion.
ApplySpec the eyewear requirements, run the manufacturer bench, and own the ODM/OEM relationships for be.Edge production, plus the eventual reference design and hardware supply chain.
You bring Hardware sourcing, ODM/OEM negotiation, or supply-chain experience. You turn requirements into a vendor bench and a signed agreement.
ApplyThe badge inside the building: a working practitioner embedded in the daily build, keeping the software honest to the street. This seat is filled.
Every seat reads the Founding Spine and signs it. The record of who built this starts here.
Compensation and equity details provided upon application. Every seat includes meaningful founding equity in be., the parent company.
